CAKE STORAGE

All your wholesale cakes and traybakes will be delivered frozen.

Your cakes will be delivered with a 12-month frozen shelf life.

For optimal cake storage, keep your cakes in the freezer and defrost at room temperature for at least 6 hours (or overnight) for a full cake, or 2 hours for cake slices and traybakes.

Ensure that any products stored in the freezer remain airtight. Your traybakes are supplied in cardboard trays with handy zip lock bags to keep them airtight.

Once defrosted, store your cakes in a cool, dry place. Avoid exposing your cakes to direct sunlight or high humidity. Consume within the recommended period on the packaging.

DISPLAYING CAKES

When your cake counter needs topping up, take the opportunity for a little spruce up. Remove any crumbs or broken slices and replenish your cake display to make it look full and inviting.

Cakes are delicate. Remind your service team to handle them with care! Customers may be put off by seeing broken slices.

To prolong the life of your cakes, display them in a cool, but not chilled, environment. Keep them away from direct heat sources and out of direct sunlight.

Cover your cakes & traybakes with a cake dome (glass is best) to prevent the air from drying out the edges.

At the end of the day, store any unsold product in airtight containers, in a cool place.

SELL THE PERFECT SLICE OF CAKE

All Truly Treats traybakes are supplied pre-cut, not just scored, ensuring convenience and uniformity.

Cakes come either pre-cut in 14 or 16 portions or uncut. If you prefer to cut your own slices, use a sharp, non-serrated knife for the perfect slice. Ideally, the knife should be warm; dip it into a jug of hot water and dry it off before slicing.

Avoid pre-cutting and displaying too many slices at once, as the edges of the cakes will gradually dry out. Instead, keep the cake whole and cut slices as needed.

Cakes taste best at room temperature. If you display your cakes in the fridge, they will become hard and cold, diminishing their flavour. Customers prefer cakes that are soft and bursting with taste, so room temperature is ideal.
